Our most frequently received support emails are from developers asking us to verify whether they are computing their API signatures correctly. We’ve been using an internal debug tool to quickly verify this information and reply to your emails. Well, today we’re making this tool available to all of our developers. You can access it by clicking below:

IQ Engines Authentication Debug Tool

Use it to quickly verify that your api signatures are correct. No need to go through us to get this information. Of course, if you still want to say “Hi” don’t hesitate to send an email .

This will allow customers to more quickly, develop, test and deploy visual search applications.

Our technology improves with use, the more users and applications using our APIs, the better the experience for everyone involved (customers and consumers). Our motivation is to have as much meaningful code published to GitHub as possible to enable in the rapid development and deployment of visual search applications based on our APIs. On that note, a big thanks to Big Nerds in Disguise and Robots on Pencils for their posts on github (http://github.com/appempire/IQEngines/). If you have code that you’d like to contribute feel free to post it and drop us a note (http://support.iqengines.com/home).

We’ve been busy these last several months: our any-image recognition API is now publicly available; we’re working with numerous customers to develop innovative solutions (some are even posting their code to GitHub); and our technology is getting more effective by the day.

At the same time, we’ve topped off our war chest with new equity investments and grants totaling over $1.3 million. First, we recently announced a $1 million Series A investment. Next, due to our unique neuroscience-inspired approach to image recognition, IQ Engines was awarded a $119,000 research grant from the National Institutes of Health to further develop accessibility features that assist the visually impaired. In addition, due to our superior technology, we also received a $200,000 grant from the National Science Foundation to advance the development of our 3D object representations for visual search.

This additional capital will be used to further develop our customer base of global retailers, handset manufacturers, and mobile service providers, not to mention scores of small mobile application developers who are currently putting our technology to work in their apps. Our recently-launched developer portal provides easy access to our API, query tools, and free queries to test your applications. In the coming months, we’ll also be adding a new categorization engine, which will further our ability to identify and label any image.

In addition to raising capital, IQ Engines added former Apple Inc. executive David Austin to our board of directors. David brings significant expertise in designing, developing and delivering elegant and intuitive software. Through his 17 years at Apple, David managed the development of several technology frameworks and product families, and his extensive experience in delivering user-friendly and feature-rich software will be very helpful as we add more functionality to our any-image recognition engine and its public API. We’re thrilled to have David on the team!

We’ve heard from a number of users that their activation emails have not arrived and they’re unable to try out the oMoby visual search engine for themselves. We’re really sorry for this inconvenience.

Many of our activation emails have been caught in spam filters from various internet service providers such as Comcast, AOL, and ATT and aren’t reaching their intended recipients. We’re actively working with these service providers to resolve this issue, and new activations should go through without a hitch. For those of you who signed up before today, we’ve manually activated your account. You can now launch oMoby on your iPhone and start using it immediately.

For new users, if for some reason you don’t get your activation email, let us know here. We’ll try resending your registration email, and if that doesn’t work, we can activate your account manually.

Thanks for your understanding!
