How it works

IQ Engines provides image recognition as a service to businesses, including retailers, advertisers and mobile app developers. Today, VisionIQ is used in applications that let shoppers compare prices by snapping a product photo, get wine ratings by scanning the label, watch a trailer by snapping a movie poster, or search for book and CD reviews by photographing the cover. VisionIQ can identify and tag the content in any photo. Once an image is tagged, it can be indexed, searched and acted upon; increasing the usefulness of the mobile phone camera.

VisionIQ

Our goal is to help you build an app using image intelligence. We make it easy. VisionIQ is visual search software that you can embed in your iPhone, Android or Windows to power the 'smart camera' in your application. IQ Engines’ advanced computer vision technology takes in photos, identifies the key content and outputs it as text; we enable visual search. The visual search can search through a public dataset, or your private dataset.

Fast and scalable

VisionIQ is a powerful image intelligence platform. On the mobile phone VisionIQ does rapid visual scanning of objects and barcodes. This on-device processing is fast, and it the perfect solution for smaller image datasets. For image recognition of large databases, the VisionIQ server API is scalable to billions of objects. By combining mobile visual search with server visual search VisionIQ gives you the most power image intelligence platform that exists today. You can train using your own private dataset, either on the mobile device, or by uploading images to the server. VisionIQ software for iOS and Android is available as a free download.

Optimized for your app

VisionIQ has three main engines: (1) visual search on the mobile device, (2) visual search in the cloud and (3) optional human crowdsourcing. You can use only visual search on the mobile device, which will recognize barcodes and a limited number of objects. By adding the server API, you can scale your private training dataset. The object recognition on the cloud works best on flat objects and packages, such as books, posters, logos, art, labels, print ads and packaged products. We provide datasets in these categories which you can use, or you can provide your own private training dataset. If the objects are too difficult for computer vision, you can use our human (real people) crowdsourcing engine. One of the keys to IQ Engines’ technology is something we call "real time learning." With every query submitted, the system learns -- images that are identified by crowdsourcing train the computer vision database. In many cases, once an object has been sent to our crowdsourcing network the first time, all subsequent queries for the same object can be identified by computer vision. In summary, you can tailor VisionIQ to meet your needs, using computer vision, or both computer and human vision.

oMoby mobile application

To showcase our capabilities IQ Engines developed oMoby, a free mobile phone app that makes finding product info fast and effortless. Just snap a picture of any product to retrieve detailed information, reviews, prices, and purchase links. Powered by IQ Engines, oMoby is a free reference design that puts the power of visual intelligence in your hands.
